Berkeley's First Birthday Party
On the Saturday following your birthday, we had a wonderful garden birthday party for you. Grandma and Grandpa Borowicz and Grandma and Grandpa Cox came all the way over from Idaho. They were lifesavers because I had put off grocery shopping and cooking because our week was so full. So it was 9:30 am on Saturday morning and the girls headed to the farmers market and the boys went off to the grocery store. The grandmas then proceeded to work miracles in the kitchen and by noon we had a wonderful luncheon all ready for our guests.
Aunt Molly, Aunt Jill, Uncle Shawn, Zach, Logan and Joshua came up from Portland. Heidi, Daniel and Rowan came from across the street. Holly, Brett and Amelia (your nanny) came from Lacey. Matt, Margo and Avery stopped by as well, and Jim and Jacquie Snyder came from Benson Lake. It was a great group and a fun day of food and conversation.

Family and Friends gather to celebrate Bee!

Logan and Bee playing in the tent.

Bee, Zach and Amelia play with the lentils.
We made Sonoma Chicken Salad Sandwiches, PB & J's for the kids, and a few ham sandwiches for papa. We threw together three great salads -- Wild Rice with a raspberry vinegarette, Linguini with gorgonzola and basil and Greens with Manouri and apples. And a party would not be complete without a birthday cake. Grandma Cox was on cake patrol and she put together a wonderful Lemon Poppyseed Cake (vegan of course!) which you really enjoyed, as did the rest of the guests.
You received wonderful gifts and luckily had the help of your awesome cousin zach to unwrap them all because you just couldn't get past the first cool ribbons.

Papa, Zach and Logan help Bee with the cake.

Bee LOVED her cake and she ate it quite ladylike as well.

Mama and Papa gave you a new push cart. You love it!
The day was so perfect and by the end of it you were completely tuckered out!
