Clean Bill of Health
Last week, we spent Monday and Tuesday in Portland playing with my sisters. They treated mama to a facial for her birthday and then we played for the next two days. We took in two great Portland parks, the "Elephant Park" which is in the Rose Garden and a park in the Pearl downtown that has a great water feature that flows full then empty. Bee had tons of fun with her cousins playing in the water.
Jill and I had to embarrass you two by putting you in matching little outfits. You two looked adorable!
You sat in the water beating on Logan's pail for a good 30 minutes.

CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH
Last Wednesday we had your one-year High Infant Risk follow up appointment at the University of Washington Medical Center. You had an appointment with a team of audiologists, two pediatrician visits, a nurse check up (for height/weight/ head circ.) and an appointment with a developmental psychologist.
You protested all the way through your audiology appt. for good reason. There were four people evaluating you and they lock you up into a soundproof chamber with mama. We were also joined by one of the team members. This guy proceeded to puppeteer a crazy looking toucan on his hand but doing it without making any sound, which you immediately thought was very strange and disconcerting. Then they sent tones in through the speaker which you didn't respond to at all. On the third time you did look the way of the sound and as a reinforcement they light up this crazy little box with a bear playing drum and cymbals with wild Christmas lights going off. You started wailing -- and I almost did too -- everything was just SO odd about this room and this crazy audiologist flying this toucan through the air. Well eventually they got enough data through your tears to decide your hearing was perfect. We were ALL very glad to leave that room!
The time with the pediatricians went very smoothly, they were very happy with your progress and prodded and poked you in every available spot.
The appointment with the developmental psychologist was the most fun. Just like your last two appointments, they give you a bunch of different tasks and see how well you perform each. We can't help but smile with delight at your abilities, and of course when you didn't quite complete something we assure them that you do this at home ALL THE TIME. We are SO bad!
Your team of specialist was SO pleased with your progress and where you are at that they said no need to schedule you anymore and released you from their care! YIPPEE! We knew this already but it is always reassuring to hear others validate our opinions.
We ended the day by visiting the NICU. One of our favorite nurses, Krissy was there to see you. She loved your curls and watching you walk. She is pregnant due in August.
