a new bed.

You are outgrowing your moses basket. This has been your bed since the day we brought you home. You sleep on a little bench that papa made you with the basket on top, right next to our bed. We like being able to hear your little sounds. You are now almost as long as your basket so it is time to get you into a larger bed.

You actually had your first sleep in it last night, but even though the bed is made of environmentally friendly mdf with wood fiber and a non-toxic laquer finish there is still a fresh out of the box smell that we need to get rid of. So you are now back in your basket and the bed is in the living room off-gassing. So you'll just have to wait another week to see it.

Your pediatrician recommended that we get you an organic crib mattress. After hearing this, I was shocked to read about all the toxic chemicals that are placed in all mattresses. The doc doesn't want your fragile body sleeping on all those chemicals because your skin is so thin (not just you but all babies). Adults sleep on these chemicals as well but they are 15x worse on a babies body. We found a wonderful place in Seattle that makes organic crib mattresses and had one made for you.

It is amazing what all we don't really know about that is in our food, clothes, toys and other household stuff. Having a little one makes you ultra-aware and hungry for more information and education.
